Weekday + Rush-hour + Winter + Awful Weather + Delayed Trains + Mass Amounts of [cold, wet, sick] People=

Recipe for Disaster.

I find much inspiration for my posts while on the subway (e.g. this and this), and today was no exception.  Given the "inclement" weather, trains were running (much) slower than usual, and tempers were short.  When trains run slower, the time allows for more people to gather at each stop, waiting for the next train (visual), likewise, more people to need to exit at each stop.  Below are a few of the many (hilarious) remarks* I overheard while "stuffed like a sardine in a can."  If only I could remember them all... (remarks in bold italics).

-  Woman frantically trying to get off the train at her stop: "I'm getting out!"
Exhibit A:  You should have done that two minutes ago.
{the train doors had just opened and it was so crowded that no one could move}

-  Watch your wallets and your personals.

-  There was an ad promoting the new clocks in subway stations that let you know what time the trains will arrive.  The ad reads: "It's nice to know when your train will come."
Exhibit A's rendition:  It's nice to know when your packed train will come, stuffed like a sardine can, and slowly get you to work.

-  What a despicable system.

-  Do you know how many minutes my pay is getting docked right now for being late...

-  One problem, and all of these issues are created...

-  {the train made an abrupt stop}
Conductor:  "This is 33rd Street."
Exhibit A (as if he was the conductor speaking):
This is stopping quickly and watching you fall.

-  Who's getting off at the next stop?  I'm trying to plan my maneuvers in advance.

- {in reaction to the whole ordeal}
Ain't that a kick in the head...  {sung in tune}

Hehe,
Hayden
